The City of San Luis is taking a concrete step towards enhancing its water infrastructure with the groundbreaking of a brand-new Well and Manganese Treatment Unit at Well Site 5. According to a recent announcement on the city's official website, the project is a $3,966,900 endeavor aimed at bolstering water production and quality for local residents. The design was penned by James Davey and Associates, Inc/CORE Engineering Group, PLLC, with MGC Contractors handling the construction.

Work on the site began last month, with a completion target set for March 2025. Once finished, the facility is poised to churn out 2,400 gallons of water every minute, and the Pureflow filtration system that is a part of the installation will treat half of that capacity per minute. This development represents a transformative upgrade to the existing water services in San Luis.

In a statement obtained by the official City of San Luis website, Assistant Public Works Director Jorge Perez articulated the city’s dedication to improving its public works services. "The Public Works Department of San Luis is committed to providing clean water services to our residents," Perez said. "This project will not only improve our quality water services but also enhance our water system infrastructure," he continued, placing emphasis on the twofold benefits of the project.
