A 70-year-old Santa Rosa motorcyclist who was critically injured in a solo vehicle accident last month has died from his injuries. Michael Stier, the rider involved in the crash on Fountaingrove and Parker Hill Road on July 26, succumbed to his injuries on August 1, as reported by Santa Rosa Police. Stier was hospitalized for severe internal bleeding and multiple fractures following the accident.
Witnesses at the scene had described how the motorcycle was traveling west on Fountaingrove when Stier lost control of the vehicle. After striking a curb, the motorcycle flipped several times before coming to a halt. First responders found Stier unresponsive, and he was quickly transported to a local trauma center in critical condition. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in this accident. However, official findings from the toxicology report are still awaited.
The incident initially came to light following multiple 911 calls on the morning of the crash, according to Hoodline. The Santa Rosa Police Department was quick to respond, dispatching officers, along with fire and emergency medical personnel, to the scene. Details surrounding the crash are being thoroughly investigated, with witness statements suggesting that erratic driving may have contributed. The rider's identity had been withheld until the relatives were notified.
The Santa Rosa Police Department is continuing its examination into the precise cause of the collision. Meanwhile, anyone with information that could shed light on the circumstances leading up to Stier's fatal accident is being urged to come forward.
