White Center in Seattle was disrupted Sunday afternoon after a man was shot, prompting a citywide search for two masked suspects. According to KOMO News, Seattle police were called near the 9400 block of 16th Avenue Southwest upon reports of a shooting, finding a man seriously wounded with non-life-threatening injuries.
As the law enforcement officials cordoned off the area, 17 shell casings were cobblestoning the crime scene. The suspects, described by the Seattle Times as possibly being in their late teens or early 20s, had fled the scene before officers arrived.
Despite an exhaustive search by Seattle Police Department (SPD) officers and King County Sheriff's Office K9s, the perpetrators remain at large. The neighborhood has been under the lens of public scrutiny after an arrest was made in a nearby shooting just five days prior, which was connected to a homicide in Federal Way, as reported by FOX 13 Seattle.
The SPD has emphasized that the information released is preliminary and details could evolve, "this is preliminary information, and details could change depending on what is uncovered in the investigation," they stated. Last month, another block south witnessed a shooting, where the gun involved was linked to other violent crimes in the area.
