Seattle Police have apprehended a 32-year-old man after a string of incidents in West Seattle, which culminated in an attempted burglary and the recovery of a firearm linked to a separate homicide. The events unfolded in the early hours of August 7 when patrol officers responded to gunfire reports on the 9400 block of Delridge Way Southwest, according to a Seattle Police Department blog post.
At the scene, a blood trail was discovered, extending from an investigation already underway by King County Sheriff's Deputies and Burien Police, leading into the Seattle jurisdiction. A spent shell casing was found and secured for evidence. Subsequently, police attended to a distressed call from a 55-year-old woman residing in the 8800 block of 16th Avenue Southwest, who reported a man attempting to enter her home. She remained unharmed throughout the ordeal.
The authorities located the suspect in close proximity to the woman's home, in possession of a 9mm handgun. Upon examination, the ballistic evidence linked him to the earlier shooting incident. The suspect, a previously convicted felon, has been booked into King County Jail. Detectives from the General Investigations Unit are actively working on the case.
Further examination revealed that the handgun the suspect carried had connections to a homicide victim in Federal Way. As the investigation spans multiple jurisdictions, additional charges against the individual are being evaluated. The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has received referrals for charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Criminal Trespass, with the potential for more pressing accusations as the investigative web untangles.
