To broadly address the enriching aspects of the program, Mayor Harrell pointed out an impressive feat: "Since 2019, this program has served a total of 1,149 youth through the summer internship program or school year Learn & Earn program," an achievement underscored by the encumbering reality of a global pandemic. Importantly, about 25 percent of SYEP interns return to seek an additional summer internship or actively engage in Learn and Earn during the school year, cementing SYEP as a program and a community fostering long-term relationships.
