The Lockhart Police Department continues to unravel the circumstances surrounding the first homicide of the year with a second arrest made on August 30. As the investigation into the murder of 20-year-old Carlos Sanchez progresses, the unnamed individual was charged with a Class A misdemeanor, details of which have not been disclosed. The arrest came as a result of search warrants executed at three residences on the east side of Lockhart, as per KVUE.
Following the call about gunfire on the night of August 16, Sanchez was found with multiple gunshot wounds and later succumbed to his injuries at a Kyle hospital. The first significant break in the case occurred on August 21, with the arrest of a juvenile on a warrant for first-degree murder, according to CBS Austin.
Lockhart police, with reiterated emphasis on the cooperation from multiple law enforcement agencies including the Texas Rangers, Texas Department of Public Safety Aviation, and Texas Highway Patrol, express that there isn't currently a threat to the public while also stressing that this is an active investigation, and more arrests may follow, as per CBS Austin.
