A Seminole man is now facing multiple charges after detectives from the Crimes Against Children Unit (CAC) zeroed in on illicit activities conducted over the internet. Robert Kalkofen, 44, was detained on charges that span from the possession of child pornography to engaging in sexual acts involving animals.
Investigators launched their probe upon receiving a tip-off concerning the viewing and storage of child pornography through online channels. Employing investigative maestros, they were able to trace and to firmly identify Kalkofen as the suspect in question. The revealed material included depictions of young children, ranging from the tender age of three months to thirteen years old. The child pornography, a video surfaced depicting a child in sexual acts with a donkey, leading to further charges against Kalkofen.
As reported by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, yesterday evening, Kalkofen faces a litany of charges: thirty counts of possession of child pornography, ten counts involving sexual activity with animals, one count of methamphetamine possession, and an additional count of resisting an officer without violence.
The consequences of the July 31 arrest were immediate, culminating in Kalkofen's transport to the Pinellas County Jail. These offenses, as they stand, serve as a harsh reminder of the vigilance required to protect our most vulnerable from those who would seek to do them harm.
