Soaky Mountain Waterpark plans to up its game by adding a new waterslide slated to make a splash in the 2025 summer season. As per WATE, the Sevierville park announced "Rafter's Rage," designed to be a six-person raft ride that stretches an impressive 825 feet and starts from nearly eight stories high. It promises to churn the waters with speeds up to 19 miles per hour.
According to WVLT, general manager Dave Andrews expressed enthusiasm about the forthcoming attraction, stating, "Our Edge water coaster, which was the first of its kind in the world, has been such a hit we’ve decided to follow it up with Rafter’s Rage, another first-of-its-kind attraction", Rafter's Rage is said to differentiate from traditional waterslides by featuring lateral acceleration over four artfully crafted arcs, giving guests an extended zero-G experience.
The construction of "Rafter's Rage" aligns with Soaky Mountain Waterpark's pattern of innovation, following their 2022 edition of "The Edge" thrill water coaster. Dave Andrews told InPark Magazine, "Rafter’s Rage will be different than most water slides with high banking turns and steep drops because instead it will feature four artfully crafted arcs that rafts will laterally accelerate over sideways. This thrilling drifting experience — a world’s first for a water slide — will extend a rider’s zero G feeling, making it an incredible attraction."
Set to be located adjacent to the Avalaunch water coaster and behind the Black Bear Rapids Adventure River, the new feature is anticipated to be a major draw for the resort, which opened in 2020 and offers a variety of aqua-centric activities from a wave pool to an obstacle course and has a season spanning from mid-May through Labor Day, and weekends in September. Season passes for the 2025 season are already on offer starting August 12, according to the park, for $99.99, which includes one guest daily admission ticket, as per WATE.
