Springfield Police Department's Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU), in collaboration with Hampden County Sheriff's Department, cracked down on illegal drug activities on Worthington Street, culminating in several arrests and seizures. According to the Springfield Police Department, the operation was a response to repeated citizen complaints and ShotSpotter activations indicating ongoing illicit transactions in the area.

Detectives set up surveillance yesterday around 2:20 p.m. and quickly noticed a man, later identified as Geovonney Aguilar, engaging in what appeared to be a drug deal. Following the initial observation, they stopped a car driven by Daisy Bocachica. Found with crack-cocaine in her purse, Bocachica was arrested at that moment. During the pursuit, having chased Aguilar on foot, a loaded firearm fell from his hoodie, which was later identified as stolen from South Carolina.

The operation didn't stop with these two individuals. As law enforcement was addressing Aguilar's attempt to flee, Victor Tanon caught their attention by discarding a container, which detectives discovered held 24 vials of cocaine, leading to his arrest as well. In total from Aguilar, the officers confiscated a stolen firearm, $120, heroin, and cocaine vials, while they retrieved additional drugs and cash from the other two suspects.

The arrests led to multiple charges for the individuals involved. The 19-year-old Aguilar faces charges including carrying a firearm without a license and possession with the intent to distribute Class A and B drugs, among others. Tanon, 59, was charged with distribution and possession with intent to distribute Class A and B drugs. Caught with the crack-cocaine in her possession Bocachica, age 51, faces a possession charge of a Class B drug.
