Following a gun call on Fernbank Road, Springfield Police Officers detained two individuals and confiscated a loaded high-capacity firearm on Sunday night. The Springfield Police Department detailed the incident in a press release, noting the arrest of suspects Yadriel Camacho and Alexmy Rodriguez after officers arrived in response to reports of a man brandishing a handgun and a subsequent "pop" heard in the area.
At roughly 9:50 p.m., law enforcement located the suspects and spotted a loaded firearm within the vehicle, visible without obstruction, equipped to hold 16 rounds. A search of the car also revealed more than 90 bags of marijuana. According to the officials, Camacho and Rodriguez were subsequently placed under arrest and are facing multiple charges, including carrying a firearm without a license and possession with the intent to distribute a Class D drug.
Yadriel Camacho, 18, of Springfield, is confronting a series of charges such as discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, among others. Alexmy Rodriguez, 19, also from Springfield, faces parallel charges. Both individuals have been charged with carrying a loaded large capacity firearm on a public way as detailed by the Springfield Police Department.
