Residents and commuters in St. Louis Park are seeing the ongoing infrastructure reshaping the city's streets as the 2024 Pavement Management Update enters various phases of construction this August. According to a release shared by the City of St. Louis Park, the final layer of bituminous pavement has been completed in Phase 1, with Vernon Avenue being an exception to pave later.
Digging into the details, the paving of the first layer of bituminous street pavement in Phase 2 finished on August 3, with the concrete contractor set to return on August 9 to carry on with sidewalks, a process which is predicted to extend into the following week, and the construction of a retaining wall and sidewalk on 41st Street is projected to kick off later this week. Meanwhile, Phase 3 contractors are knee-deep in utility replacement jobs this week with the continuity expected through the next, and the grading of the street to prep for concrete work still awaits a fixed date.
In a no less disruptive stride, Phase 4 kicked off with the removal of street pavement on August 7, a two-day task to be followed by the dismantling of existing concrete curbs and driveways, this meticulous process paves the path for underground utility endeavors slated to strike ground on Lynn Avenue the week of August 12 as announced by Aaron Wiesen, P.E., Project engineer at City of St. Louis Park, who can be reached at [email protected] for more details.
The city also reminds those residing within the affected domains that personal embellishments such as underground sprinklers, electric lines, persistent gardens, or invisible fences located within a 15-foot sweep of the curb could be in harm's way due to their placement in the public right of way. Property owners gripping such privatizations are recommended to relocate these items hastily, and should these remain in place, they bear the burden of damage risks and consequent repairs, as detailed by Tom Leonhardt, Project Coordinator for the City, whose contact is [email protected] for those seeking counsel on such matters. For a broader overview, the city's update can be viewed at the City of St. Louis Park's official bulletin.
