As August rolls in hot, Arlington Parks and Recreation is not cooling down on providing events that cater to all ages and interests. For those looking to beat the heat, Allen Bolden Pool is set to host "Rock the Pool" today, from 7-9 PM. It's designed to be a back-to-school bash with groovy tunes for you to swim along. Admission is just $3, and there's no need to register in advance, just bring your swimsuit and towel. For quieter Saturday vibes, the Bad Königshofen Family Aquatic Center is offering a Sensory Swim on August 3, a more controlled environment suitable for children with special needs. A limited number of spots are available for this event, so be sure to register if you're interested, according to the City of Arlington, Texas.
Next up, Cliff Nelson Recreation Center plans to directly party into celebrating their 35th birthday on August 9, from 6-8 PM. The community is invited to enjoy this milestone event complete with live music and an '80s costume contest — all for free. Simultaneously, don't miss out on the Friday Night Splash Party at The Beacon Recreation Center. Combining fun water activities with good food and music under the nighttime sky, this promises to be an evening that's both refreshing and entertaining, with no money needed at the door.
Finally, Dottie Lynn is switching up routines with a Parents’ Night Out: Nerf Night on August 16. From 6-8 PM, parents can enjoy some well-earned time off while their kids engage in safe but wild fun in a bounce house, play games, and work on themed crafts; dinner is included in the mix, making for a complete evening package. Keep in mind, this is an opportunity for parents to to take a break and for kids to make some summer memories.
