
Chicagoans can expect a continuation of pleasant weather today, with forecasts predicting sunny skies and a comfortable high of 76 degrees, shifting winds suggest an easterly breeze will take over in the afternoon, according to the latest report from the National Weather Service. As evening approaches, a mostly clear night with temperatures dipping to around 62 degrees is on the horizon, with east-southeast winds gently transitioning to a southern drift after midnight.

Looking ahead to the weekend, the warmth is expected to notch up a bit with Friday and Saturday highs forecasted to be in the low to mid-80s, however, come Saturday night, there's a calculated 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, as reported by the National Weather Service.
The Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by the National Weather Service mentions no immediate concerns for today and tonight. However, it does signal a "Limited Thunderstorm Risk" for Saturday night. Boaters and coastal residents might take a sigh of relief as no hazardous conditions are predicted for the Illinois or Indiana nearshore waters of Lake Michigan during this period.
With Sunday and Monday forecasted to be the peak of this heat wave, temperatures are expected to soar near a high of 89 and 94 respectively, "heat indices could reach into the upper 90s to lower 100s," as stated by the National Weather Service's Chicago.
