A man allegedly connected to an armed robbery in July that has left another man with severe injuries, was taken into custody after suffering a gunshot wound. The Metro Nashville Police Department reports that 26-year-old Samuel Giddens was brought to Southern Hills Hospital following a shootout occurring around 10 p.m. Wednesday at the Brentwood Hills Luxury Townhouses. According to WSMV, Giddens, after being brought to the hospital, gave the officers a fake name and date of birth.
During the investigation, Giddens was identified by police as an acquaintance of the victim of a violent encounter at an Antioch home in July. The robbery left the victim with injuries so severe he could no longer speak properly or open his mouth. As reported by WKRN, the altercation involved Giddens pistol-whipping the man before stealing his Infiniti Q60, a crime for which Giddens had outstanding warrants.
The shootout that preceded Giddens' arrest also resulted in damage to an apartment window and a vehicle parked at the complex. Before his hospital visit, two armed suspects had fired several shots, striking Giddens in the leg. This development added charges of criminal impersonation to Giddens' list after the discovery of his real identity. According to FOX 17, he remains jailed on a $155,000 bond.
Additionally, a companion of Giddens, Kendric Williams, 28, was arrested and charged with being a convicted felon in possession of firearms. Found hiding weapons underneath a car tire at the hospital, Williams was since released on a $30,000 bond. Anyone with information about the shooting incident or the robbery is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. This investigation remains ongoing, as per FOX 17.
