Residents near the 7000 block of Old Lakeville Road #3 experienced a scare yesterday evening as a fire erupted in the area. The incident, which could have escalated to a significant threat to structures and possibly human life, was swiftly contained. The Sonoma Sheriff's Office reported via Facebook that no structures were lost in the event.
Key to the quick containment was the overhead assistance from Sonoma's Sheriff helicopter, Henry-1, which, serendipitously, was performing routine air patrol when the fire started. The helicopter crew provided firefighters with a critical size-up of the situation from their aerial vantage point, and their advanced camera technology mapped the fire, identifying the best access points for the ground teams.
The Sonoma Sheriff's Office expressed gratitude for the coordinated efforts between the air and ground teams, ensuring the community's safety. "We’re thankful for the coordinated efforts that kept our community safe tonight", they said in the statement.
