The City of Tampa has announced that its offices and services, including solid waste collection services for trash, recycling, and yard waste, will remain operational on Monday, despite recent storm activity. In a news release, local authorities pointed out that residents should not place sandbags in their City-issued solid waste containers. Instead, those looking to dispose of sandbags can drop them off at the McKay Bay Scale House.
Parks and recreation facilities are also expected to resume normal operations on Monday; however, some services may be affected based on the extent of storm damage which city personnel will be assessing in the early hours after the storm has passed, while the Tampa Parks & Recreation Department anticipates most areas to be accessible, particular locations might remain closed depending on the storm's impact.
Tampa residents and business owners who experience non-life threatening damages due to the storm are urged to utilize the Resident Damage Self Reporting Form available on the city's website. This action facilitates a more efficient damage assessment process and aids in relaying information to Hillsborough County and FEMA, although it is not a substitute for filing claims with private property insurance.
The City has also issued a stern warning for drivers venturing out on Monday morning, stressing that they should not attempt to drive through floodwater and any instances of flooding should be reported to the Stormwater Customer Service Line, this precaution is essential for maintaining personal safety and minimizing traffic disruptions as the community recuperates from the storm.
For life-threatening emergencies, calling 911 remains the community's immediate recourse, while the Tampa Police Department non-emergency line is available for all other non-life threatening emergencies. Additionally, residents looking to stay updated can receive text alerts related to the storm by texting TAMPAREADY or TAMPALISTA for Spanish speakers to 888-777, and updates will be continually posted on the Alert Tampa and City of Tampa social media.
