
A tragic incident in Taylor has ended in the death of a 19-year-old man, identified as Martin Reyes. The Monday evening accident took place at around 7:48 p.m. at the junction of S. Telegraph Road and I-94. Reyes was operating a dirt bike, which had been reported stolen from Shelby Township, when he failed to stop at a red light and collided with a Ford Edge, according to reports by ClickOnDetroit.
The aftermath of the collision was detailed in reports, with eyewitnesses stating and the CBS News Detroit mirrors this, saying the driver of the Ford Edge stayed at the scene and along with other witnesses, attempted to provide assistance to Reyes who was severely injured from the impact, before paramedics arrived ultimately, despite the efforts of bystanders and the quick response of emergency services Reyes succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at Corewell Health Hospital in Dearborn.
Taylor police have been actively investigating the situation, as reported by Audacy, who noted that the adult rider of the bike not only engaged in theft but also in a fatal traffic violation. The driver of the SUV involved is said to be cooperating fully with authorities who have gone on record to state that neither drugs nor alcohol were contributing factors in the accident.
