A 17-year-old boy was fatally shot in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood, a grim reminder of the epidemic of gun violence plaguing the city. The incident occurred on a sidewalk in the 3400 block of West Franklin Boulevard around 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, where the victim was confronted by three male assailants who emerged from a car and opened fire, striking him multiple times in the head, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
The teenager was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital but, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, police told the Chicago Sun-Times.
As reported by ABC7 Chicago, no arrests have been made, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear as Chicago Police continue their investigation.
