Three young teens aged 13 and 14 found themselves in custody following a stolen vehicle chase that cascaded into an altercation with law enforcement officers on Hirschfield Road. According to a Facebook post from Constable Mark Herman's Office, their alleged joyride came to an abrupt halt on August 2, as deputies attempted a traffic stop only to be met with resistance and a subsequent pursuit.
The incident escalated when the juvenile driver, already under the surveillance of an ankle monitor for previous offenses, tried to strike a deputy with the vehicle. Reportedly, the deft deputy avoided injury by jumping out of the path. The wild chase ended shortly thereafter, with the youthful offenders abandoning their ride and leading authorities on a foot chase. All three were quickly apprehended.
Digging into the backgrounds of the suspects, it was uncovered by deputies that the 13-year-old driver's rap sheet included charges such as Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Burglary. The three suspects now face serious charges, including Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer for the driver, as reported by Constable Mark Herman's Office. The passengers have been charged with Evading Arrest.
The trio was booked into the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center, marking a grim chapter in their young lives. "All three suspects were arrested and booked into the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center," Herman announced, detailing the gravity of the offenses that included the driver's charge for Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer and other vehicle-related infractions.
