Terros Health and Lifewell Merge to Amplify Mental Health Services in PhoenixSource: Google Street View

In Phoenix's mental health landscape, Terros Health and Lifewell, are coming together in a merger that aims to strengthen their services and reach within the community. With both non-profits already known for their efforts in championing mental health, their consolidation is seen as a significant stride toward enhancing access to critical care for individuals in need. Individually, they've carved distinct paths in outpatient and residential treatment spaces, but together, they're poised to deliver an even more robust continuum of care to clients across the Phoenix area.

Under this new partnership, which is set to take effect on October 1, the combined entity will operate under the Terros Health name, including Lifewell's clinical services and outpatient clinics. This union is not just about expanding the service offerings though; it's also a strategic move to combat the staffing shortages that have long troubled the health care industry. As reported by AZ Big Media, Karen Hoffman Tepper, president and CEO of Terros Health, mentioned, “As we explored how to best serve our patients and communities, we discovered our ability to provide greater access to a wider range of services as a combined entity.”

The services that Lifewell clients will be able to access now expand to include specialized care such as HIV prevention and treatment, services for children and adolescents, and niche programs tailored for individuals involved with the justice system. On the other hand, those reliant on Terros Health will gain additional support with housing and vocational rehabilitation. Together, the merged organization will serve more than 50,000 patients a year, employ 1,300 staff members, and is projected to generate about $150 million in revenue annually. Moreover, Doris Hotz, CEO of Lifewell, is poised to join Terros Health's executive leadership team, according to an interview with ABC15 News.

Hoffman Tepper added in her interview with AZ Big Media, “Long term, we see the potential for consolidating technology and collocating lines of business to streamline the referral process and give patients access to more services from a single location.” This suggests that the merger aims to create not just expanded services, but an entirely re-envisioned approach to care where efficiency and patient convenience take center stage. The organizations plan to fully rebrand the Lifewell sites throughout 2024 and 2025.
