As wildfires continue to burn across Texas, Governor Greg Abbott has taken additional measures to address the increasing threat. In an announcement published by Office of the Texas Governor website, Abbott confirmed the deployment of more state firefighting resources. "Texas is deploying additional firefighting resources to assist communities that have increased wildfire activity," as stated by Governor Abbott. He also urged Texans to "heed the guidance of state and local officials to keep their families and their loved ones safe from wildfires."

Texans are facing not just soaring temperatures but also the reality that firefighting support from the federal government is not meeting the demand, due to a lack of available aircraft. Governor Abbott, aware of the growing concern, continues to request more aerial support as frontline responders take on the blazes, already having scorched over 10,000 acres in Texas.

In response to the ongoing crisis, the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) has activated a range of assets, including more than 350 firefighters and support staff, and over 100 pieces of equipment such as bulldozers and fire engines. In addition, the Texas National Guard is providing four Blackhawk helicopters equipped for firefighting.

Local and state efforts are complemented by emergency medical support from the Texas Department of State Health Services, which includes paramedic teams and ambulances equipped for wildland firefighting operations. Texans are being strongly encouraged to be proactive and to prepare for wildfire dangers, which include limiting spark-causing activities as per the guidelines available on TexasReady.gov and tfsweb.tamu.edu. The severity of the situation is underscored by raised preparedness levels and the ongoing operation of the Abilene Air Tanker Base, meant specifically to aid in wildfire suppression.

The Governor's office has also ensured continuous coordination through the State Emergency Operations Center, which maintains a stream of communication with all involved in tackling the fire threats.
