MA3 Gilbert Cazarez, hailing from Texas, has recently been distinguished with the honor of Blue Jacket of the Third Quarter FY 2024 at NAS JRB Fort Worth, marking a milestone in his military career. Born in Amarillo and raised in Copperas Cove, Cazarez's journey in the armed forces began on August 7, 2021, with a clear purpose: to build a stable foundation for both his family and himself.
As a Master at Arms and primarily serving as a patrolman, Cazarez is currently focusing on climbing the ranks to become a watch commander. Alongside this personal goal, he commits time to aid his fellow junior sailors in acquiring their next qualifications. Joining the military to serve, Cazarez actively takes on his duties, performing force protection and antiterrorism measures to reinforce the safety and security of the installation. This recognition highlights the hard work and dedication of an individual deeply ingrained in both the discipline and camaraderie that military life fosters.
Before his current station, Cazarez was posted in Bangor, WA at the Strategic Weapons Facility Pacific (2021-2023). He played a crucial role, in providing security and protection to high-value assets considered critical to the nation's mission. According to the NAS JRB Fort Worth Facebook page, "Cazarez feels very humbled to accept this award. It isn’t just for him, it’s a return on investment on all the great people who help him to get to this position."
Looking ahead, after completing his current tour, Cazarez has set his sights on further service and professional growth. In terms of education, he aspires to pursue a degree that would set a career pathway to become a high school football coach. Beyond the rigors of service, he finds joy in life’s simpler moments, cherishing the time spent with his wife and two daughters, indulging in his passion for football, and visiting his familial home.
