Early Thursday morning, a house fire on the south side of San Antonio left three people without a home, after heavy smoke and flames engulfed a residence on McCauley Boulevard. The San Antonio Fire Department reported to the scene around 2:30 a.m., where they witnessed the blaze ripping through the house. According to KSAT, the fire was intense enough to send flames through the center of the roof.
Despite the dangerous condition, firefighters managed to contain and extinguish the fire promptly, ensuring that the house adjacent were not swallowed by flames. In a perilous turn of events, a powerline fell across one of the fire department's trucks, though it appears to have caused no further incident or injury. "Crews were able to contain the fire and knock it down," fire officials relayed in a statement obtained by KENS 5.
Miraculously, the three residents trapped inside the blazing structure managed to escape unharmed, avoiding what could have been a tragic outcome. The San Antonio Fire Department, along with San Antonio Police Department and EMS, responded efficiently to the emergency.
The cause of the early-morning inferno is yet to be determined as a fire investigation team delves into the remnants for clues. Officials have not given an estimate of the damages to a home, which was described as heavily damaged by the sources.
