Heads up, commuters in Montgomery County: Your routine might hit a snag starting next week, thanks to new utility construction. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that Prestige Property Partners LLC will be hard at work on Little Road in Lower Frederick Township, with eastbound lanes shutting down for several days.
The traffic restrictions set to begin Tuesday, September 3, will last until Friday, September 6, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. This temporary closure impacts the stretch between Route 29 (Gravel Pike) and Simmons Road. Detours will reroute eastbound traffic onto Route 29, Route 73 (Big Road), and Perkiomenville Road. Despite the construction, local access will still be available up to the construction zone.
Given the potential for traffic backups and delays, PennDOT is advising motorists to allocate additional travel time when passing through or around the work area. The entire project is, as always, subject to change based on the whims of the weather.
PennDOT reminds travelers that the construction work by Prestige Property Partners LLC is carried out under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit. For those looking to stay ahead of the traffic conditions, options are aplenty, including the 511PA website which offers up-to-the-minute traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, and traffic speed information.
