
The Tunica County Sheriff's Office is currently seeking leads in a fatal shooting that occurred late Tuesday night at an apartment complex along Old Highway 61. Jermaine Jones, a 22-year-old resident of Tunica, was found deceased with a single gunshot wound, according to a press release issued by the Sheriff's Office and posted on Facebook.
Responding to a 911 call at approximately 10:58 p.m., sheriff deputies and first responders found Jones lying next to a vehicle on the ground at 2661 Old Highway 61, as reported by Darkhorse Press. Despite efforts to save him, Jones's life was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tunica County Coroner, Glen Grant. With an autopsy scheduled, the body was transported to the Mississippi Crime Lab in Jackson for further examination, the Coroner's autopsy plans to reveal more details about the young man's untimely death.
Authorities are treating the case as a homicide and the investigation is active, as mentioned in the press release.
