
Two young men are facing serious charges following a reported armed robbery incident in Worcester, Massachusetts. The alleged crime, involving the theft of a cell phone, took place on August 29, and authorities swiftly took action, which concluded with the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of a weapon.
Worcester Police officials indicated the officers were dispatched to the vicinity of Hawley St and Pleasant St at approximately 4:12 PM after receiving reports of the incident. Acting upon the information gathered, they identified a silver Ford Fusion as the suspect vehicle and promptly issued a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert.
In their search, police officers found the vehicle on Main St and conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of two 18-year-olds, Javan Alvarez of West St, and Alwin Cordero of Main St. According to a press release from the Worcester Police Department, both individuals have been charged with Armed Robbery.
Additional charges have been lodged against Mr. Alvarez, after officers discovered a loaded handgun inside the vehicle. He is now facing multiple firearms-related offenses, including Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number, and, Improper Storage of a Firearm. The investigation continues as authorities work to unravel the circumstances that led to this violent encounter.
