Two male juveniles were arrested and charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking involving a firearm, the Chicago Police Department reported yesterday. The pair, ages 13 and 15, were taken into custody by the Vehicular Hijacking Task Force following a carjacking incident that occurred less than an hour before their arrest.
The juveniles allegedly approached a 32-year-old male in the 8300 block of S. Holland Rd and commandeered his vehicle at gunpoint. They were later located and apprehended on the 8000 block of S. Stewart at 12:35 p.m., the department detailed. A felony count of vehicular hijacking with a firearm has been levied against each of the young offenders.
According to the Chicago Police Department's official statement, the successful arrest is attributed to the concerted efforts of the specialized task force dedicated to such vehicular crimes. The police noted that, due to the ongoing legal process and the involved parties' juvenile status, no additional details concerning the case are currently being released to the public.
