Two individuals sustained injuries in a collision involving their motorcycle and two other vehicles yesterday evening in Evendale, a grim addition to the daily churn of commuter traffic. According to Local 12 News, the incident occurred just before 5 p.m. at the junction of Glendale Milford Road and Cunningham Drive when the peaceful idling of a motorcycle at a red light was catastrophically interrupted by a multi-vehicle collision.
Addressing the specifics of the event, authorities reported that a Toyota Corolla and a flatbed truck were heading eastbound on Glendale Milford Road. The truck changed lanes and struck the Corolla, which, out of control after the impact, was sent spinning into the oncoming lane and directly into the motorcycle, according to WLWT News. The force of the collision hurled both the motorcycle's operator and passenger onto the unforgiving asphalt, a stark reminder of the very real dangers faced by bikers on the road.
The gravity of the situation was underscored by the subsequent hospitalization of the motorcycle's occupants. WCPO reported that the motorcycle operator was listed in critical condition while the passenger was stabilized. Both are receiving care at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Notably, neither of the motorcyclists was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, a decision that invariably exposed them to a greater risk of injury.
While the motorcyclists bear the burden of recovery, the drivers of the flatbed truck and the Toyota Corolla walked away from the crash unharmed.
