According to the initial investigation by California Highway Patrol, the driver of a 2001 Honda, who was eastbound on E Harding Road, stopped at the stop sign and then accelerated into the intersection directly in front of a 2013 Chevrolet, resulting in the collision. The driver of the Honda, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene, as reported by ABC10.
On the same day, another traffic incident was reported on southbound Interstate 5 near Pete Miller Road in Stanislaus County. The California Highway Patrol was rapidly dispatched to the site after the crash was reported at 6:34 a.m., details of which were shared by KCRA. An overturned vehicle, rolling multiple times, led to at least one major injury. CHP has yet to determine the exact cause of this accident.
The identity of the individual who perished in the first crash has not been released publicly.
