Notably, the White House release highlighted Gordon's reinforcement of Vice President Harris's stance that "the will of the Venezuelan people must be respected." He denounced any form of political force and violence in the electoral aftermath.
Strains of affirmation for Edmundo González Urrutia were echoed by Dr. Gordon, who, according to the same briefing, stated the Biden-Harris Administration's conviction that Urrutia had garnered the most votes. This expression of support comes amidst Venezuela's tumultuous quest for transparent governance.
International diplomacy also played a significant role in the proceedings, with Dr. Gordon commending the countries that backed the Organization of American States’ resolution for an impartial probe into the elections. "Now is the time for the Venezuelan parties to begin discussions on a respectful, peaceful transition in accordance with Venezuelan electoral law and the wishes of the Venezuelan people," he was quoted in the statement.
