Arnold, a typically quiet neighborhood in Westmoreland County, was the scene of a tragic event that left community members in shock after a deadly stabbing occurred on Sunday evening. A 73-year-old woman, identified by the Westmoreland County Coroner's Office as Diana Rebold was found with multiple stab wounds, lying in the middle of Liberty Avenue. A suspect, her son, believed to be the assailant, was apprehended by police at the scene, as reported by CBS News.

A witness described the confrontation to CBS News, mentioning that they heard arguing, followed by what sources close to the investigation said involved the son allegedly cutting his mother's throat in the street. In a neighborhood watchful of its own, the act of violence stands in stark contrast to the typical peace experienced by locals, "I'm shaking like a leaf because this is such a quiet neighborhood," one neighbor said in response to the incident.

The suspect, a male in his 40s, is in police custody with no active threat to the public now reported. Neighbors indicate that this event was not their first interaction with the tumultuous mother-son relationship. "The other day I've seen him out there yelling, but apparently him and his mother got into it and this is what ended up happening," Charisse Campise, a neighbor stated, as per WTAE.
