Winter Garden's Dyson’s Plaza is set for a significant facelift, with a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of the redevelopment penciled in for Friday, August 16. The project, financed by the City of Winter Garden Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and the Orange County Board of County Commissioners, aims to thoroughly modernize the 2,300-square-foot site located at 215 Center Street. Detailed plans revealed by the city indicate that the current single-unit structure, a relic of the 1980s, will be partitioned to create two separate commercial spaces, as well as introducing an outdoor seating area, fresh landscaping, and parking lot enhancements. A City of Winter Garden official announcement detailed the scheduled 10 am event.
The current vision for Dyson’s Plaza, in line with advisement from the City’s Community Redevelopment Agency Advisory Board (CRAAB), is to not only provide a cosmetic update but also to significantly bolster the location's utility. Post-renovation, the building is expected to host a restaurant and potentially a retail outlet or office space. To quickly move forward with the project, the agency has pushed to swiftly secure a one-time Dyson’s Plaza Commercial Revitalization Grant, with total costs projected not to exceed $704,000.
This development is part of a larger initiative driven by the CRA to breathe new life into aging and underutilized properties within the community. By investing in infrastructure and reimagining the use of such spaces, the aim is to spark economic growth and to further attract patrons and businesses to the downtown area, while specific tenants have not been officially announced.
