A tragic multi-vehicle accident on Route 8 in Richland Township claimed the life of a woman Thursday evening. The collision occurred near the intersection of William Flynn Highway and Applewood Drive around 5:15 p.m., involving three vehicles. According to WTAE, the details of the crash, where Northern Regional Police Department Chief John Sicilia shared that one of the cars, intending to make a left turn onto Applewood Drive, was rear-ended and propelled into oncoming traffic in the northbound lane.
Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, where they found the aftermath of what seemed to be a tragic timing and forceful impact. According to WTAE, two individuals were transported to the hospital following the incident.
Chief Sicilia confirmed the death of the northbound driver, a Butler woman born in 1948, whose name has yet to be released as detailed by WPXI.
