
A devastating altercation in Las Vegas has left one woman dead and a man fighting for his life following a shooting at a local car rental office. The incident occurred in the back alley of Avis Car Rental on Sahara Avenue, as reported by The Review-Journal. Police received a distress call just after 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and arrived to find a woman unresponsive on the ground and a man with multiple gunshot wounds.
The victims were engaged in a post-rental car transaction when they were confronted by a suspect driving a white pickup truck, who shot them as they headed to the parking lot to collect their vehicle. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department indicated the suspect, described as a heavy-set Black male in his 40s, opened fire after a verbal confrontation. According to News3LV, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while a the man was rushed to University Medical Center in critical condition.
Witnesses inside the rental car office were unharmed, and investigators believe the shooting was not random, but rather, the two individuals were specifically targeted. The entirety of this tragic event was recorded by surveillance cameras. Authorities have yet to identify a motive for the shootings and are urging anyone with information to contact the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Section. The suspect fled the scene and remains at large. The Avis branch has since diverted customers to alternative locations.

Metro's Homicide Lieutenant Jason Johansson described the incident as "specifically targeted at the two victims" in a statement obtained by The Review-Journal. Avis spokesperson confirmed that their location would be closed for the coming hours and directed customers to other branches.
