Nine Las Vegas casino resorts, including The Orleans and Suncoast, are about to get a lot more visibility on the world's booking screens. Boyd Gaming has launched an exclusive strategic affiliation with Sonesta International Hotels, putting 19 of its casino resorts nationwide — more than 9,700 hotel rooms and 600,000 square feet of meeting and event space — onto Sonesta's distribution platform starting in January 2027.
The new grouping, branded the Boyd Collection, will fold in nine Southern Nevada properties alongside resorts in California, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The Las Vegas lineup spans Aliante, California Hotel and Casino, Cannery, Fremont, Gold Coast, Main Street Station, The Orleans, Sam's Town and Suncoast. Boyd, which is based in Las Vegas, says it operates 26 gaming entertainment properties across 11 states and also manages a tribal casino in Northern California, according to a company announcement.
Crucially, the deal does not change who owns or runs the properties — it's a distribution and marketing arrangement. As Hotel Dive reported, the rooms are being distributed by Sonesta, not added to Sonesta's portfolio, a distinction noted in coverage from Asian Hospitality. Boyd properties will also remain available through Boyd's traditional distribution channels once the new platform goes live, the company announcement states.
Executives Frame the Deal as Mutual Growth
Boyd Gaming president and CEO Keith Smith said the affiliation creates an opportunity to broaden Boyd's customer base nationally while introducing Sonesta's users to Boyd's hospitality and entertainment offerings, per the company's own release. Sonesta co-CEO Keith Pierce said the affiliation advances the company's asset-right, franchise-focused growth strategy — language that echoes the same release's broader positioning. Sonesta chief development officer Phil Hugh added that the relationship offers new avenues for franchise and development growth.
Sonesta describes itself as the eighth-largest hotel company in the United States, with more than 1,000 properties, 100,000 guest rooms spread across 13 brands, and it's headquartered in Newton, Massachusetts. The company's loyalty program counts more than 7 million members worldwide, according to the same release cited by Hotel Dive. Boyd customers stand to gain from Sonesta's global distribution platform, its expanding brand portfolio, and the Sonesta Travel Pass loyalty program, while Sonesta guests will gain access to a broader range of hotel-casino destinations.
Loyalty Link and Future Development Still Unsettled
The two companies plan to link their loyalty programs — Sonesta Travel Pass and Boyd Rewards — though no timetable or integration details have been announced, Asian Hospitality reported. Boyd and Sonesta also say they plan to expand their partnership and enhance the development pipeline, with the companies agreeing to explore hotel development opportunities connected to Boyd's existing properties and future projects.
Those potential projects may include Sonesta hard-brand conversions, rebrands or new-build projects, though no specific projects or timelines have been named, per Asian Hospitality's reporting. The outlet noted that such moves are designed to support Sonesta's franchise growth while giving Boyd more development pipeline options.
Part of a Broader Hospitality Trend
Casino.org characterized this kind of hotel-company tie-up with a gaming operator as a model that has become increasingly common across the hospitality sector, according to its own reporting. The timing lines up with active churn in the hotel industry more broadly: at the end of the third quarter of 2026, U.S. hotel brand-conversion activity totaled 1,516 projects and 146,544 rooms, up 3% by project count year over year, per Lodging Econometrics data cited by Asian Hospitality.
The Boyd-Sonesta arrangement also recalls an earlier precedent in Las Vegas hospitality: the Marriott-MGM relationship, another hotel-company tie-up with a gaming operator.
