A tragic multi-vehicle collision in Monroeville resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to three others on Friday morning. According to a report by WPXI, the incident occurred on the 2100 block of Mosside Boulevard at 9:02 a.m. and involved a tractor-trailer, a Hyundai Elantra, and a Dodge Caravan.
According to WTAE, the sequence of events, as detailed by Allegheny County Police, began when the Elantra was attempting to turn left into a parking lot. In the process, it was struck by the northbound tractor-trailer, subsequently colliding with the Dodge Caravan traveling in the opposite direction. The woman operating the Elantra was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, while her passenger, a man, was reported to be in stable condition. The couple in the van sustained injuries as well and were also taken to a hospital, where they remain stable.
Authorities have conveyed that the tractor-trailer driver did not suffer injuries from the crash and remained at the scene during the investigation. This vehicle was transporting what was identified as an oversized load, notably an excavator. Allegheny County Police are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and have provided a tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS for this purpose.
