A fatal crash in the North Highlands neighborhood of Sacramento County claimed the life of a young man over the weekend. According to ABC 10, the accident occurred on Bainbridge Drive west of Fair Play Drive when the driver, said to be in his 20s, collided with a parked vehicle.
Witnesses reported to California Highway Patrol that the vehicle, a pickup truck, appeared to be driven recklessly before the driver ran a stop sign and subsequently crashed into the parked vehicle, and then into another; the driver died at the scene, his identity has not been disclosed pending notification of kin, investigators are still piecing together the sequence of events. The California Highway Patrol is examining the wreckage and witness accounts in their ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
CBS Sacramento further reports that the driver of the pickup was partially ejected during the crash and pronounced dead upon the arrival of first responders. The crash, occurring just after 8 p.m. on Sunday, brought emergency services to the scene along Bainbridge Drive, off of Walerga Road.
Furthermore, the California Highway Patrol is scrutinizing all factors, including the possible involvement of alcohol in this deadly incident, but this line of inquiry remains unconfirmed as details are still forthcoming.
