A tragic occurrence unfolded in McKeesport this week, a 17-year-old has been arrested and is facing charges after a man was fatally shot. According to WPXI, first responders were summoned to the 500 block of Lysle Street around 10:53 a.m. on Monday, where they discovered 22-year-old Dylan Christopher Saula of North Versailles shot in the roadway, declared dead at the scene.
Police have detained Daemond Artemus of McKeesport, who now faces charges of homicide and firearm violations. According to a witness account detailed in a criminal complaint, Artemus allegedly entered Saula’s vehicle intending to purchase drugs, then shot him and disposed of his body on the street. Artemus is currently held at the Allegheny County Jail. The witness informed police that there was no argument before the shooting, providing insight into the events leading up to the fatal gunshot.
In a concurrent report by WTAE, the suspect, Daemond Artemus, was denied bail during an arraignment on Tuesday morning, with court documents revealing surveillance video evidence that seemed to show a body being discarded by a red vehicle that was later seen leaving the area.
A preliminary hearing for Artemus is set for later this month, where the court will examine the allegations and the evidence presented thus far.
