Early Friday morning, a 23-year-old woman was fatally shot at a Charlotte apartment complex. The incident happened around 2 a.m. at the Matthews Place Apartments on Woodway Oak Circle near Independence Boulevard. The victim, Jenyah Kishawne Skyye Wright, was found in the parking lot with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to WBTV.
Law enforcement and emergency units, including the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD), Crime Scene Investigators, and Charlotte Fire and Medic, responded to the complex to collect evidence and offer support. No arrests have been made, and officials have not released any information about a suspect. CMPD has stated that there is currently no threat to the public, but the details of Wright's death remain unclear.
