
Yesterday, a tragic scene unfolded on Interstate 595 in Broward County as three lives were claimed in a multi-vehicle collision. According to WSVN, the crash involved a blue BMW AG and a Hyundai Accent, with the impact leading to significant lane closures near the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Florida Highway Patrol informed media outlets that the incident took place just shy of 4 a.m., where the driver of the BMW, a 63-year-old man, collided with the rear of the Hyundai, which was traveling at a slower rate. Amidst the critical recovery efforts, Davie Fire Rescue teams worked to extricate the victims from the wreckage. The operators of the vehicles faced an unexpected tragedy, with the younger drivers and passengers suffering the most grievous outcomes.
In the aftermath, the 27-year-old driver of the Hyundai and a 24-year-old woman who was a passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, while a 19-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries at Broward Health Medical Center approximately an hour later. "Rescue crews transported another passenger, a 19-year-old woman, to Broward Health Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at around 5 a.m," stated the report by WSVN. The condition of the BMW driver, initially reported as 61 years old but later corrected to 63, has not been disclosed.
The crash resulted in the closure of eastbound I-595 for several hours, with traffic resuming normal flow around 10:20 a.m. as reported by CBS News Miami. Investigators remain on the scene, piecing together the circumstances of the collision.
