A chilling encounter at an Ohio retail store led to a 60-year-old woman defending herself from an assailant, reportedly concealed within the women's restroom. According to NBC4i, the incident occurred last Friday at the At Home store on Park Mill Run Drive in Hilliard, where the woman was attacked mere moments after she entered the facility. Hilliard police have identified 26-year-old Mohamed Camara of Columbus as the suspect.
The confrontation escalated quickly after the woman left the restroom stall to find Camara standing by the sink. "She fought back hard, she loudly called for help, and she’s doing a great job assisting with our investigation," Hilliard police commended the victim in a social media post cited by cleveland.com. Camara, now charged with kidnapping, a severe first-degree felony, faced immediate citizen's arrest as the woman's family members detained him until police arrived on the scene.
The attack, said to be premeditated, with Camara hiding inside the restroom ahead of the assault, prompted an urgent 911 call with the incident being reported by the victim's son, among others. Police say no injuries were reported, but authorities found evidence, in the form of bruises and a broken blood vessel in the victim's eye, that suggested a violent struggle had occurred. This detail, and the suspect's detainment, was reported by the woman’s husband, who had the suspect pinned down when the officers emerged inside the bathroom, according to WBNS.
