A 7-year-old boy tragically lost his life after drowning in a north Houston residential swimming pool yesterday. The boy, who has been identified as autistic, was discovered unresponsive in the pool located in the 7300 block of Fox Forest Trail, as reported by the Houston Chronicle.
Harris County authorities responded to the distressing scene just after 6:45 p.m., where they found the boy and attempted CPR. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the location. This marks the second reported drowning of a minor in a swimming pool in the area this month, with a 16-year-old boy having drowned earlier.
According to FOX 26 Houston, the child's mother had returned home around 4 p.m. and began searching for her son after not finding him in the house. She called the sheriff's office after checking the neighborhood, but it was already too late; her son was found in a neighbor's pool, adjacent to their home.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the incident. An older adult brother was reported to be at home with the boy at the time of the incident, though no charges have been filed in connection with this tragedy.
