During a quiet morning commute to Teague Middle School, a student was startled by a strong gust of wind that disrupted their bus ride. According to ClickOrlando, a bus transporting students to the Altamonte Springs middle school became an unlikely casualty of Hurricane Helene's lingering wrath when a tree branch, likely weakened from the storm's ferocity, snapped and barrelled through a window.
As the bus navigated a right-hand turn, a rogue branch struck, shattering the back window and leaving one student with minor injuries. The Seminole County Public Schools district confirmed that the student received a minor cut from the broken glass and was treated on the spot, with no other injuries reported.
Describing the event in an interview, cited by FOX 35 Orlando, Tyler, an eighth grader and one of the passengers, recounted his experience when the branch came crashing through the window near his seat. "I just had glass all over me. It was like crazy," he said after the incident, noting the rapid sequence of events that led to his narrow escape from serious harm.
