Residents near US-377 and Crawford Road may have noticed an unusual sight in the sky last Friday. The Argyle Police Department confirmed that a helicopter flying low in the area was part of a scheduled event by Hilltop Elementary PTA named the "Eagle Roundup." The planned spectacle involved releasing rubber ducks from the aircraft, much to the amusement of the community members. Scheduled for around 6:30 p.m., the duck drop was cleared ahead of time with all safety precautions in place.
The unique fundraiser caught the eye of many, especially those unversed with the happenings, sparking curiosity and, predictably, a few concerns. Announced by the Argyle Police Department, the Town of Argyle eased residents' worries, stating that the helicopter is dropping rubber ducks as part of the Hilltop Elementary PTA 'Eagle Roundup.' The town assured the community that while the spectacle was something out of the ordinary, there was no need to report the low-flying aircraft.
Such events bring together the community, often in support of the local schools and educational activities. Engaging the community with a visual and interactive event like the rubber duck drop serves as a fun and innovative way to fundraise for school programs. Participants witnessing the event were encouraged to enjoy the view and even pick up a souvenir if they happened to catch one of the plummeting ducks.
