Arlington is gearing up for another National Night Out (NNO), an event that champions community-police partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live. As Arlington's Crime Prevention Unit prepares for the upcoming NNO on Tuesday, October 1, they're also shining a spotlight on a canine friend in need of a loving home. In a post reminiscent of their popular #FureverFriday series, the Arlington Police Department has featured Beanie, a 3-year-old Labrador Retriever mix who is heartworm positive and looking for a family to support him through his treatment. The post, issued September 21st, combines community outreach with animal welfare, encouraging residents not only to participate in National Night Out but also to consider providing a "furever" home for Beanie.
Registration for the community- and relationship-building event is still open, and Arlington residents can sign up for NNO by visiting the Arlington Police Department's website. The police department's efforts have not gone unrecognized, as their approach to National Night Out has received accolades in the past. However, the heart of this year's message lies with Beanie, a friendly dog described as loving pets, rubs, and giving hugs. Despite, his medical condition, the unit's message is clear: he's "worth it".
Those interested in adopting Beanie can find him at the City of Arlington, TX - Animal Services located at 1000 SE Green Oaks Blvd. Prospective pet parents are encouraged to visit in person and should reference his ID number: A0056600792 when inquiring. Beanie's feature not only brings attention to an individual pet's plight but also highlights the broader issue of animal welfare and the many pets in need of a home.
