Atlanta is on alert following a bold robbery at an Atlanta Check Cashiers location, where two masked men dropped in through the ceiling. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the incident occurred earlier this month, with the suspects stealing approximately $150,000 in cash. Police, reviewing surveillance footage, saw the men forcefully entering the premises through a hole they had methodically cut in the roof using power tools.
The manager of the establishment, caught off-guard mid-task behind the cashier’s counter, was coerced at length to lead the intruders to the business' safe. As reported by Atlanta News First, the victim recounted being grabbed and forced to crawl to the safe, where the stolen funds were hastily stuffed into a pink and black duffle bag. Moreover, during the robbery, a third accomplice, who was in contact by phone with the assailants, provided real-time information about the movements around the business, heightening the precision of the crime.
After emptying the safe and securing additional cash from the business' cash drawers, the suspects ensured to leave no traces by restraining the manager using duct tape and temporarily confining her to the bathroom. With their heist complete, the two fled in an older model two-door pickup truck, believed to be black or green, and driven by their unseen collaborator. The suspects are described by the authorities and the victim as two Black males, one light-skinned around 6 feet tall and possibly in his 30s, the other dark-skinned with a slim build and about 5 feet 8 inches tall.
The Atlanta Police Department is actively seeking leads and encourages anyone with information to come forward. The community has been asked to contribute any insights that might aid in the apprehension of the suspects. Tips can be submitted anonymously to the Crime Stoppers Atlanta tip line, as per Atlanta News First. An award of up to $2,000 has been announced for information that leads to a resolution in this brazen theft that has left the local business community to rightly question the security of their establishments.
