Atlanta is preparing for a significant international soccer event, having been chosen as one of the 11 cities to host matches for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. This tournament is set to showcase the best of global club football in the U.S., just ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the event will take place from June 15 to July 13, 2025, featuring 32 elite clubs competing for international recognition at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The draw set for December will decide which teams will compete in the expansive venue, as noted by the vice president of stadium events and premium sales Doug Roberts says has “quickly become known for hosting the biggest soccer matches in the U.S.” Roberts shared his excitement about including this prestigious event in the stadium's lineup, saying, “We are excited to add the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup to the roster,” in a statement obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta. “We are proud to have the opportunity bring global audiences to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in such a meaningful way ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup."

As Atlanta celebrates its selection, fans are eagerly anticipating the official team lineup. FIFA will announce the contenders after the draw later this year, but the roster already includes major teams such as Atlético Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Boca Juniors, among others. Clubs from Europe, South America, North and Central America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, and Oceania have secured their spots, transforming the event into a true showcase of global football talent set to compete on Atlanta's home ground.

Alongside the excitement of the Club World Cup in Atlanta, several other U.S. cities are set to host numerous matches leading up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. These include the Rose Bowl Stadium in Los Angeles, Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, and MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. “Mercedes-Benz Stadium has swiftly risen to prominence as the venue for some of the most significant soccer matches in the U.S., and we are thrilled to welcome the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup to our lineup,” Doug Roberts told FootBoom.
