Residents of Lancaster County have been shaken by the discovery of an ATM skimming device at a local Sheetz gas station. According to FOX43, the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department responded to the Sheetz at 1205 Lancaster Road in Manheim on September 11 after the gas station found the illegal device.
Police have urged the community to stay vigilant and examine bank statements for any unauthorized transactions, especially if they've used an ATM at the said Sheetz location over the past month. A similar caution was echoed in coverage by ABC27, which noted that this incident is the most recent in a series of similar skimming cases across the Midstate area.
The presence of these devices, which can covertly steal card information, poses a serious threat to consumer security. As per WGAL, the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police warned the public that any potential victims should report suspicious account activity to both their banks and local law enforcement. This proactive approach is crucial in battling such forms of financial fraud.
