The Austin Police Department is on the lookout for a suspect following an incident of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. In the early hours of September 2, gunshots disturbed the quiet at East 7th and Red River streets, and APD officers, who were already responding to another call, arrived to find an individual bleeding from gunshot wounds. The victim, thankfully, did not sustain life-threatening injuries and is currently receiving care at a local hospital, as reported by the City of Austin.
The shooting investigation led to the revelation of the suspects, three Black males, traveling in what has been identified as a newer model Chevrolet Malibu. The suspect's vehicle, described as silver or gray and missing its front license plate was seen in the vicinity of the shots fired. According to the City of Austin, the front right passenger brandished a firearm, and, discharged multiple shots at the victim's vehicle.
The Austin Police Department has described the shooting suspect: as a Black male, likely with a shaved head or short hair, last seen in a black t-shirt, light-colored ripped jeans, and a gold chain, as detailed by the City of Austin. APD urges anyone with information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
