
On the evening of August 31, a 15-year-old boy in the Western District allegedly used a handgun in an attempt to shoot a girl of the same age. The Baltimore Police Department reported that the incident occurred on the 1800 block of Appleton Street at approximately 6:39 p.m. According to the official report, there were no injuries as a result of the gunfire.
Following the report of shots fired, the Western District Action Team moved quickly to search for the suspect. Their efforts, alongside detectives from the area, led to the location and capture of the young suspect. A handgun was also retrieved in the process of the arrest.
The authorities have moved forward with pressing charges against the individual, who is currently held at the Central Booking Intake Facility, facing serious accusations including attempted first-degree murder. The department has not released further details regarding the motivation or circumstances leading up to the near-tragic encounter.
